Organizing Assets in Greenset-Landing: Improving Repository Structure
The Asset Management Challenge
Maintaining a clean and predictable repository structure is essential for long-term project health. In the Greenset-Landing project, we recently encountered an issue where static image assets were not loading correctly due to pathing inconsistencies in the file system.
Solving for Path Resolution
The root of the problem was the lack of a dedicated directory structure for static resources. When assets are placed at the root of a project, it often leads to cluttered directory listings and fragile relative file paths that break as the project scales.
By introducing a specific folder for images, we ensure that the application can resolve asset paths reliably. This approach also allows for better grouping and organization of static files as the landing page evolves.
Ensuring Version Control Continuity
Since empty directories are often ignored by version control systems, we utilized a .gitkeep file. This is a common pattern to ensure that the required directory structure is preserved across different development environments and deployment pipelines.

.gitkeep

This small change ensures that whenever a team member clones the repository, the necessary directory structure is already present, preventing "file not found" errors during build or runtime.
Results
By standardizing the asset organization, we have successfully resolved the image loading issues. This structure provides a scalable foundation for adding new visual components without risking path conflicts or broken references.
Next Steps
Going forward, we plan to implement a consistent naming convention for all static assets to further simplify the integration process and improve overall maintainability.
